Introduction: DIY Simple Homemade Motor
This a very simple motor which is called a 'Homopolar motor'. It's a great example of how a magnetic field is produced when electricity is passed through a conductor. It is a fun project and only takes a few minutes to make.
So, let's get started!
Step 1: Materials
All you need is :
1) AA battery
2) Neodymium magnets (You can also use a couple of strong magnets)
3) Conductive wire
4) Wire cutters / pliers
That's it!
Step 2: Shaping the Wire
You can shape the wire any way you want - keep in mind there should be a tip which can balance on the end of the battery and the other end should curl around the magnets.
Step 3: Assembling the Motor
Stick the AA battery (Positive terminal up) on the magnets. Then, put the wire onto the battery and the magnets.
Step 4: The End
As soon as it is assembled, it should start spinning!

Great instructable! By the way the magnets you used were not neodimium, they were ceramic disk shaped magnets.

That's why I wrote "you could use a couple of strong magnets" because I didnt have neodymium magnets. Thanks for commenting :)
