Intro: Dehydrated Strawberries

Strawberries!  There have been good prices on strawberries this year, so I decided to dry some in my dehydrator that I got last fall.

dehydrated strawberries are perfect for homemade instant oatmeal packs...strawberries and cream...1/2 cup oatmeal, 1-2tbsp strawberries, 1-2 tbsp sugar (vanilla sugar would be amazing in this), 1tbsp powdered milk...all tossed in a snack size baggie(ziplock or other brand)...dump in a bowl when ready to eat, add 3/4 - 1 cup water heat in microwave for about 90 secs voila instant strawberries and cream for a fraction of the cost of the store bought kind
Should take about 16 hours. According to my nesco dehydrator
awesome idea! Also when you have to much fruit!!!
I mostly just eat them just like that dried but sometimes i mix with cho chips.
that's yummy 2. do u have any other ideas for the dried berries? U should get a plant. they grow realllly ez and make babies very fast. last year 18 # in the freezer. i made jelly with that. this year i dried them.
You can cut them up and put them in things like muffins and bread. Strawberries don't really grow very well where I live. Too cold. :) Thanks for your comment!
How long did it take to dehydrate them? Strawberries are awesome this year! I don't have a dehydrator but I do have a gas oven. . .
It took about two days. That's what's nice about a dehydrator. You just plug it in and forget about it. I got mine at the thrift store for about five dollars, but then when you buy things like that, you have to find a place to store them, that's the only thing. :D
...Ovens are ok too, I think they just heat up your house more.
Chips and dip Dip them in whip cream and have a red snack.
