Step 1: What Goes in a Meat Muffin? (AKA Ingredients)

So you have decided to make some meat muffins. Here are the ingredients you will need to gather.

  • 1lb ground turkey(.5 kg)
  • one large onion (I prefer purple)
  • one large egg
  • one cup bread crumbs(90g)
  • Ketchup
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • one tablespoon garlic powder(15g)
  • two tablespoons Montreal steak seasoning.(or whatever seasoning you like in your meatloaf)(30g)
  • olive oil, cooking spray, butter, or the like.

Now that you have your ingredients lets gather our tools.

Step 2: Hardware for Forgeing Mighty Meat Muffins!

Here are the tools you will need when crafting your mighty meat muffins.

  • cast iron muffin pan passed down from generation to generation or any muffin pan really. :)
  • Knife
  • large mixing bowl
  • cutting board
  • oven
  • skillet(not pictured here)

Now to the first of many steps in making these tasty turkey muffins.

Step 3: Preaheating the Oven, Crying Over a Chopped Onion, and Smashing Garlic

The first step in any culinary quest involving an oven is to preheat the oven. So let's crank the oven up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit(177C) and get ready to cry.

As your oven gets up to temperature head on over to your cutting board, grab your knife, and get to chopping that onion into small little chunks. Now is your chance to think of something sad, have a good cry, and blame it on the delicious root vegetable you just cut into tiny pieces. It will be our little secret.

Grab your garlic and mash it up however you like. I like to place a clove on my cutting board place the flat side of my knife on it to crush it. Then once I have crushed it I chop it into little pieces. You could also use a garlic press.

Now let us proceed with our chopped up produce to the stove top and a skillet.

Step 4: Camelize Those Onions

Pour a bit of olive oil into your skillet and turn your burner up to medium. Once the oil starts to shimmer add in the onions and garlic. The trick here is to let the onions sit long enough to brown but not burn. So I try and only stir them 6-8 times while they are cooking. Once they start to clarify and take on some nice brown edges turn your burner off and let the onions cool.

Step 5: Practice for Your Zombie Audition

So while your onions are cooling and before we get our hands dirty let us grease up our muffin pan. With the pan all greased up it is time to mix up the rest of the ingredients. Dump your ground Turkey, breadcrumbs, garlic, Montreal steak seasoning, and egg into your mixing bowl. (Now if you have read any of my other instructables you know I like to get my hands dirty so I am sure there is another way to do this but here is how I roll.) With all your ingredients in the bowl take your strong hands and squish everything together until it is well mixed. Now by this point you should be able to add your sauteed onions without burning yourself so dump those in the bowl and mix them in as well.

Step 6: Fill the Void

Your muffin tin has had a long and hard life. Sometimes it feels like something is missing you know like it has these 11 holes in its' soul that it yearns to fill. Being the kind and benevolent kitchen overlord you are you have decided to fill that void with delicious meat muffin mix. So evenly distribute your meat mix between all of the sections of your muffin pan. Once that is complete put a dollop of ketchup on top of each individual muffin. Now you want to spread the ketchup out evenly. Since my hand was already dirty I just use my finger but if you managed to keep your hands clean you could use a brush or something of that ilk.

Now to the oven!

Step 7: Bake Those Muffins

Place your muffins on the center rack of your oven, set a timer for 30-45 minutes, and find something to occupy your time. The muffins are done when the temperature in the center of the muffins reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit(74c). Once they reach that temperature take them out of your oven let them rest for 5 minutes and enjoy.

Step 8: Enjoy

Well now you have some delicious meat muffins. I paired mine with some key lime buttered green beans. See how happy they are to be together headed for my stomach.

Thanks for taking the time to read this instructble I hope you enjoy your delicious non-loaf shaped meat.
