Step 1: Materials

For this you will need:

Materials:

Wooden dowels

sturdy fabric (canvas)

thread

rope

Tools:

Fabric Scissors

Sewing machine (or needle)

Drill (optional)

Step 2: Measure and Cut Material

Measure the fabric and cut it into a rectangle.

I find that one dowel across and two long is a good measure. But you can give yourself extra room. The lines don't need to be perfect because you will be folding it an sewing it.

Step 3: Pin and Sew Edge

Fold over the long edge and pin it, then sew it to make a neat edge. This will also prevent fraying.

Step 4: Fold and Sew Short Ends Then Insert Dowels

Fold over the short ends and sew a closed loop/fold large enough to insert the dowels.

Repeat on both sides, then insert the dowels.

Step 5: Secure Rope

Secure the ropes to each exposed end of the dowel.

you will need to have sturdy rope, what is pictured does not cut it, but I cannot find anything in my supply closet that would work.

You can tie them as I have using some Boy Scout lashings, or if you are handy with a drill you can drill holes and put them through that way. Just be cautious that the hole isn't so large that it compromises the integrity of your dowels.

Step 6: Enjoy

Sit back, relax and you will be happier and more productive at work in no time. Or you will at least be more comfortable. Maybe add a Hawaiian shirt.
