Introduction: Colorful Dessert Sushi [made With Rice Krispies]

About: Designer. Thinker. Doer. Hiker. Lover.

A friend recently put me in charge of desserts for a sushi making party and I brought ingredients for this quick snack. We had everyone make their own which kept everyone playful and creative and allowed for variations.

Step 1: Roll Your Rice Krispy Treats

To make this snack, prepare a batch of rice krispy treats using this recipe or your own favorite. The rice krispies add nice texture and also make sure you don't go into sugar shock from just eating straight sugar ;-)

We rolled the rice krispy treat in wax paper and used the traditional sushi making. The wax paper keeps the marshmallow from sticking to the bamboo roller. We also found it was best if the rolled rice krispy treats went in the freezer to firm up a bit before starting the next step.

Once you have your 'roll', slice it into bite sized pieces to prep for candy-fi-cation.

Step 2: Decorate With Colorful Candy

The outside is the only part that matters here, but you can include little surprises in your rolls if you like :-)

Here's a partial list of the many candy and toppings we had at the table to experiment with:

- Airheads Extremes Sweetly Sour Belts Candy

- Sour patch kids

- Mini Swedish fish (a must for candy sushi, don't you think?)

- Twizzler pull&peel

- Sprinkles

- Dairy Queen cake crunch

- Chopped nuts

- Shredded coconut

Step 3: Eat Your Dessert Sushi Roll!

Add a Swedish fish to the top or do whatever makes you happy! These little guys were tastier than I expected and I had several friends ask to make them again! I'm sure they'll be different each time.
