Introduction: Dinosaur Bookends With Hot Glue!
Dinosaur Bookends!
Upcycle old plastic dinosaurs and pallet wood into the coolest bookends!
Step 1: Supplies
You'll need:
scrap wood
plastic dinosaur toys
hobby knife
hot glue/gun
spray paint
Step 2: Glue Bookends and Bisect Dino
I cut some scrap wood into blocks.
it's about 4 inches wide.
I used two 6" tall pieces and two 3" tall pieces.
Sanded smooth...ready to go.
Run some hot glue across the 3" block...
And stick it right to the bottom of the 6" block.
Repeat for the other side!
I have had no problem with the hot glue staying firmly stuck.
(but many other kinds of glue would work as well)
Now cut the plastic Dinosaur, Stegosaurus, T-Rex and triceratops...(you can use any hollow plastic toy) and cut it in half with the hobby knife. It was much easier to do this with the animals that have 4 legs on the ground. But as you can see, the T-Rex turned out just fine!
Just don't let your kids see you cut them in half!
Step 3: Gluing the Dino in Place!
Apply a band of glue around the dinosaur body and on the feet...
and press it right onto your blocks!
T-Rex was a little trickier...but with some fancy leg overlapping, it works great!
Step 4: Pop of Color!
Add some color pop!
This part is cool because it makes the piece look solid...like 1 piece, purchased that way!
Spray paint in light coats with 10 minutes drying time between coats.
Rotating the book end often to get under and around all parts of the dinosaur.
Let dry completely at least 24 hours.
Step 5: Enjoy...sit Back and Read!

That's a super cool idea! But if you put a book of synonyms in between one, would it become...a thesaurus? *rim shot*
