Introduction: Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino Recipe
This Double Chocolaty Chip Starbucks copycat recipe is delicious and chock-full of chocolate! As a bonus, it is caffeine free since there is no coffee so it's great for all ages! Though, if you do want that extra pick-me-up (and the massive amount of sugar isn't enough) you can still add in some coffee to make this drink perfect for you.

Step 1: Supplies
This recipe is a single serving and makes about the equivalent of a 16oz Grande from Starbucks.
Ingredients:
- 2c ice
- 3/4c milk* - use whatever type you would like; I used Half & Half with great results
- 3 tbsp chocolate sauce - I've also used Torani's Chocolate Milano Syrup with tasty results
- 3 tbsp simple syrup (or 3 tbsp of sugar, but simple syrup blends in better)
- 1/8c - 1/4c chocolate chips - I used mini but I don't know if that is better than normal size or not, also, I used 1/2c and that appeared to be too many, so you can start small and add more if you want
- Whipped topping
- More chocolate sauce and mini chocolate chips for topping
- Pinch of Xantham Gum (optional)
Utensils:
- Blender - I use a Magic Bullet at home, it's great for making individual drinks though doesn't blend quite as well as the Vitamix
- Ice cube trays - small ice cubes make for even easier blending
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Cups for serving
- Straws - I'm a fan of reusable ones. These birch pattern paper straws are cute but I would not suggest them for this drink, even though I use them in the picture. They are too small for the chocolate chip chunks.
*Feel free to replace 1/4c of the milk with strong coffee.
Step 2: Mix It Up!
(In my pictures you can see I mixed everything except the chips and added them in. I did that because I was afraid they would get broken up too much, but I was wrong.)
Throw everything (including the chocolate chips) in the blender and mix it up! You want to get those chocolate chips as broken up as you can so that the drink will be easier to suck through a straw later.
Step 3: Decorate It and Enjoy!
Just a warning that the chocolate chips probably will sink to the bottom of the cup eventually, but it really depends on how much you were able to blend them up and how fast the drink melts. The bigger the chips and the faster it melts, the faster they sink.
I didn't blend my chips as well as I wish I had and I sat around taking pictures of the drink for a while so some of my chips sank to the bottom. It was tasty nonetheless.

Oh yeah, I got another one for this Friday. It takes different Torani syrups tho, so it is a little harder to make if you aren't an obsessive Torani syrup collector like I have become :P

Gosh darnit, out of chocolate chips, would York mints or Andes mints work?
Reply 7 years ago on Introduction
I think those would be pretty tasty :) I would put them in a ziplock bag and bash them up as much as I could first and then blend them in the drink to break them up even more.
