I wanted to create a relaxing seating area by our hot tub, and purchased a couple of resin muskoka chairs and built a side table for between them. I found a really cool dragonwood cookie at a local lumber shop and thought it would be perfect for this space. I also found an interesting stainless steel base to go with the table top. I really liked the opaque white fence post lights and was able to create this effect with the table base by lining the circular base with opaque white plastic sheets and battery powered lights on a remote.

Stainless Steel Oval Base (15" Diameter)
RampaTec M6 Threaded Inserts - 8

Step 1: Preparing the Tabletop

A few small cracks in the wood were filled with Starbond Brown CA glue. The glue come with microtips to get in tight areas, it dries quickly and even faster using the Starbond CA Accelerator.
The wood was sanded with various grades of sandpaper, first 120 grit and them 180 grit.
OSMO UV Protection oil was used to coat and protect the tabletop.

Step 2: Customized Label (optional)

As a final personalized touch, a customized stainless steel label was added. A 2.5 cm hole was drilled with a forstner bit and the 2.5 cm label was inserted with Titebond dark glue.

Step 3: Rampa Inserts to Attach the Base

Holes on the top of the base were traced on the bottom of the tabletop, and holes were drilled and rampa inserts screwed in; when the base is ready the rampa bolts will be screwed into these inserts

Step 4: Prepping Table Base

The stainless steel table base was cleaned with Boat Clean Plus to remove any dirt or oil on the metal.
The base was then treated with 2 coats of stainless shield applied using a lint free cloth; this is used on boats therefore more than capable of protecting the metal from any rain.

Step 5: Creating the Lighted Base

I cut 3 plastic sheets to fit the inside of the base and attached to the inside of the base using clear double-sided tape.
Clear Adhesive wire hooks were attached to the inside of the the base to hold the lights
the battery pack was attached to the underside of the tabletop, the rampa bolts then attached to the rampa inserts to secure the tabletop
The lights were then strung across all the wire hooks.
Finally a few thin clear rubber feet were attached.
