Introduction: Drawstring Bag With Mickey Mouse Logo (Crochet)

This is a beginner friendly pattern which uses some basic crochet stitches and can be finished in one day. The dimensions of the bag are approximately 8.5cm x 15cm(Big enough for all iPhone sizes and most Samsung). You may be wondering why you would want a bag like this. Apart from how awesome it looks, it offers some great functionality as well. It was made primarily to keep a phone and if you have a phone, you are probably going to need a bag like this. You probably think you don't need it but once you have used it for a while, you'd begin to wonder how you ever coped without it. Apart from protecting your phone from getting scratches(especially when you keep it in your pocket or bag along with a bunch of keys or some sharp objects), it also(to some extent) prevent you from breaking your screen(or screen protector) when you drop your phone; it cushions the fall so the force that reaches the phone is greatly reduced. It also has a small pocket where you can keep your ID cards, credit cards, or even some change. There really is no limit to what you can put in the pocket- as long as its small of course. Now let's get started!!

Step 1: Materials

  1. 1 ball of black yarn(color A)
  2. 1 ball of green yarn(color B)
  3. 2.5mm crochet hook
  4. 1mm crochet hook (optional)
  5. Needle and thread
  6. Piece of fabric (10cm x 12cm should be enough) (optional)
  7. A pair of scissors
  8. Stitch marker or paper clip
  9. Scrap yarn in two different colors (Colors C and D) (optional: you can use color A alone for the logo)

Step 2: Stitches Used

The stitches used in this pattern are easy for even beginners to understand and do but I will include links to video tutorials for anyone who needs them.

  1. Chain stitch (ch) how to do a chain stitch
  2. Magic circle (magic ring) how to do a magic circle
  3. Single crochet (sc) how to do a single crochet

Round 9 - 46(or until the desired length is reached): Chain 1, do 1 single crochet in each stitch across. Join with a slip stitch (44sts).

Holes for drawstring:

Round 47: Chain 1, *do 1 sc in next stitch, chain 2, skip next stitch, rep from * until end of the row. ( You should have an odd number of holes so that drawstring comes out correctly).
Fasten off.

Drawstring: Make a couple of chain stitches until it is about 28cm long (or until it reaches desired length). Then, fasten off and thread the string through the holes in the last round made. Tie a knot to join the ends of the string in order to keep the string in place.

Sew both ears to the top of the head as shown in the pictures above and then, sew it on the front side of the bag.

Step 5: Pocket

Make a seam in the edges of the fabric such that it has a width of about 6.6cm and a height of 10 cm. (This should be enough to store ID cards, credit cards, some change, etc.)

Sew the fabric on the backside of the bag making sure to leave the top open.

Leave any questions you have regarding the pattern in the comments. If you want to make the bag with a different height and/or width and can't quite figure out how to do it, also leave your questions in the comments and I will try to answer them.

Thank you and good luck crocheting!!
