Introduction: Dual Led Flasher - Simple First Electronic Project

The dual led flasher is a simple electronics project for beginners.

You can buy all the components online, and it takes about 30 minutes to solder everything in place.

At the end you get a nice little gadget that cycles between two leds about every second.

Step 1: The Tools You Will Need

You will need a soldering iron, I got mine from sparkfun, and it is a great beginner's soldering iron:

US plug - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9507

EU plug - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11650

You will also need some solder (I recommend you use the lead free version):

A third hand will help you hold everything in place:

Step 2: Parts and Schematic

To build this project you will need:

2 X 470 Ohm resistors

2 X 100K Ohm resistors

(You can get the resistors from the Sparkfun Resistor Kit, it has 500 resistors, including what we need, and it's good to have)

2 X 22uF capacitors (you can get those from eBay or amazon, for about 0.3 $)

2 X PNP transistors

2 X 5mm LEDs (whatever color you like)

1 X mini SPDT switch

1 X 9v battery clip (Sparkfun only sells them with connectors on the end, remove it with cutters / wire stripers)

You will also need a board to solder it to, you can use a protoboard (follow the schematic) or order one from http://oshpark.com (use the brd file).

Step 3: Put Everything in Place and Solder

Put everything in place according to the picture and the schematics.

Solder it in place, if you don't know how to solder check this video:

Finally solder the 9v connector in place.

Step 4: Vuala! - It Is Finished

That's it, the project is complete!
