Intro: Duct Tape Succulents and Faux Pinch Pots

If you have a black thumb like I do, these colorful duct succulents are the perfect plant for you! Make them in any color to match your decor. Create the pinch pots with recycled plastic bottles!

STEP 1: Watch the Short Video Tutorial Here!

STEP 2: You'll Need

Duct tape in various colors

Decorative paper (scrap book paper works)

Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Lace

Heavy plastic bottles

Colorful fish tank rocks

Wire

Scissors

Paintbrush

STEP 3: Make the Leaves

Place strips of duct tape side by side on the back of some decorative paper

Cut the tape covered paper in strips and then in 1" to 1 1/2" pieces

Cut the pieces into 10 small, 10 medium and 10 large leaves

Bend two of the smaller leaves and glue them together

*This is the center of your succulent

STEP 4: End With the Larger Leaves

Continue working out from the center ending with the largest leaves

STEP 5: Make the Pots!

Tape 6" pieces of wire on the back of decorative paper (or scrapbook paper)

*Leave about 2" - 3" hanging off of the edge

Cut into long, slim leaves leaving the wire as the stem

Slightly warp the bottom half of a heavy plastic bottle over a flame

*If you're working inside, make sure a window is open!

Paint them with several coats of Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Lace

STEP 6: Finish Up!

If you want, fill the pots with a piece of styrofoam

Add the long slim leaves

Fill with colorful fish tank rocks

Add the duct tape succulents and you're done!

Very cute! I can't image making them myself, but I plan to share with some Art Teacher friends for them to try!!! ;)

Wow! Those are really well crafted.

Hmmm, that's how I like my plants: crispy!

Now I just have to find green duct tape. (The silver and black we do have here doesn't look natural) :-)

I like to be able to leave for weeks and know they'll be just fine. Try a 99c store. That's where I got my duct tape.
