I wanted to share this super easy decoration with all of you. I created this simple metal hanging decoration for the 4th of July. I absolutely love how it turned out. I found this metal holder at my local Dollar Tree. I haven't seen it in the store before. I was excited to find this and brainstorm for my next project. As always, the material list is below. I will walk you through each step of creating your very own.

Supplies

One metal hanging holder

Mod Podge

Tulle or ribbon

Acrylic paint

Craft foam block

Foam scatter stars

Faux flowers

One decorative napkin

Scissors

Floral cutters

Hot glue

Three craft sticks

Twine

Step 1: Apply Paint to Your Metal Holder

Start by taking your paintbrush and applying your acrylic paint to your metal holder. I only used my paint on the metal surface. When applying the acrylic paint I noticed it does go on smoothly. You could prep the metal surface if you are concerned about the paint not adhering to the metal surface. I applied around four coats of paint to the front and back of my metal holder. Be sure to allow your paint to fully dry between each coat.

Step 2: Apply Paint to Your Craft Sticks

Next, take your acrylic paint and begin to apply your paint to each craft stick. Set them aside and allow them to completely dry.

Step 3: Cutting Your Napkin Into Strips

Next, take your napkin and use your scissors to cut two strips. Before cutting your strips, remove the second layer on your napkin if your napkin is 2-ply.

Step 4: Applying Mod Podge and Napkin

You are now ready to apply your napkins using mod podge. Use your paintbrush and apply a thin layer of mod podge on the top and bottom sections of your metal holder. After, take your strip of napkin and apply it over your mod podge. Be sure to smooth out any creases. After I applied a thin layer to the top surface of each napkin section. I used my blow dryer when finishing up applying the mod podge.

Step 5: Attaching Twine to Metal Holder

Next, take your twine, use hot glue, and wrap it around both the top and bottom sections of your metal holder.

Step 6: Attaching Foam Stars to Craft Sticks

Next, take your foam stars and use hot glue to attach each star to the craft sticks.

Step 7: Adding Foam Block, Faux Floral and Stars Into Metal Holder

After, take your foam block and add it to your metal holder. Take your floral cutters and begin to cut your faux flowers to the desired size. After, take each of your faux flowers and add them to the foam block.

Step 8: Optional- Adding Tulle or Ribbon

This last step is completely optional. Take your tulle and cut three square sections. After cutting three sections, add them on top of each other. Grab the bottom of the tulle and begin to bunch them together. After bunching them together, take a piece of twine and tie the bottom off. Use a little hot glue and attach it to your metal holder.

Step 9:

That completes your design. I love how simple this was to create. This is perfect for displaying on a porch, or front door. I hope you have enjoyed this 4th of July decoration. Be sure to let me know if you decide to create your very own. I'll see you soon.
