Introduction: EMERGENCY INTERIOR LIGHTING, Cheap and Safe (no Flames)
Most of you have the solar powered, rechargeable YARD LIGHTS on hand. They are very well suited for use INSIDE if you have no power. A fully charged good battery will run the LED for 7 STRAIGHT DAYS. When it starts to dim, put the battery in a charger (Wal Mart sells a very decent one) and put in a new battery while the old one charges. IF your POWER is OUT, you can simply put the thing outside or in a window sill. Be sure it gets several hours of direct sunlight and when the sun goes down, you're back in business. BEST NIGHTLIGHT EVER, no cords or plugins, and you can put it up high so it can light up the whole room if that's what you want.

Yes, this works great! I brought in the tops of my brightest ones and placed them all around. For your NIGHTLIGHT idea, you could keep them (or hang them) in sunny windows at all times, in the winter too.

Glad you liked it, I think this is one of my neatest ideas but it's really hard to see just how neat it is until you try it in the dark. Did you find some cracked glass pieces to use with them?
