EZ Robot Controlled Lost in Space B9 Robot
Intro: EZ Robot Controlled Lost in Space B9 Robot
This is my full sized exact replica of the 1960's TV show's Lost in Space B9 Robot. I've been building it for about 2 years now. It's animation is controlled by 3 EZ Robot control boards (EZB) and his voice files were made by the original TV voice actor Dick Tufeld. Most of the outside parts were made by venders and I assembled, painted and installed. However every thing inside (With the exception of most of the control boards) was built by me. I did at times use other B9 robot builder's methods for structure as a guide but I had to make it all work together. Power and wiring and logic was all me. This is just a quick show case of what I've built so far. All is complete except designing the arms and more of the more complex animation and voice routines. Using the EZ Robot Control boards I have Voice control and response, camera motion tracking, face reconnection and can write simple scripts for complex animation routines. With the EZB I can also control all servo and DC motor movement through scripts or voice commands. cinosencio24, If your talking about the legs then It's silicone rubber. They are made by a guy that's a Hollywood Special Effects and prop maker. As I unerstand it the mold that he uses is pulled from the original robot.

Hi Mr. MrGuineapig,
Thanks for the kind words!
Yes I've been in the B9 Builders Club fir a few years now. How about you?

Good lick on your build.

I'm just getting back into building my B9... a couple questions:
1. Are you in the B9 Builders Club?
2. Do you offer any of the amazing internals you created?
Your B9 is amazing!!

Ya, cant wait to get my V4's I have 3 V3 EZB's installed now. One in the brain, one on the torso and one in the leg section. They work together seamlessly and give me greater freedom of movement and makes it a lot easier to disassemble him. No extra wires going from level to level to disconnect and get tangled. The V4 will work even better with it's WiFi and smoother and faster processing.

Well done Dave! You have my vote! It will be great when the EZB v4 comes out. Cheers!

have you considered going on the road to the comic and sci-fi conventions yet?

Thanks for the interest. Yes I have considered and am looking forward to the day I can attend. This is the second year I've been invited to Robcon in Denver and a show in Cincinnati where one of the cast members were attending and signing autographs. Sadly all my extra cash is going into this robot and not much left to travel on. Also I don't think B9 is ready for a public show yet.

I am in awe: A frickin'-for-real-robot replica of a costume. Amazing.
So... have you seen Pacific Rim yet? [grin]

I like seeing the internal structure of your robot. It looks like an extremely professional and clean build as well. No wiring messes to be seen as in many complex robots. I'd like to learn more about some of parts you used and where you got them. Maybe share a link to where folks can get an EZB? ;-)
