Hi! In this instructable I'm going to explain how to make these pendants, you can use them as key rings, earrings, necklaces or for any other project you can think of.

Supplies

  • Plastic type 6 ps
  • Permanent marker
  • Paper hole punch
  • Scissors
  • Aluminium foil
  • Oven
  • Baking tray
  • Nail polish
  • Pliers
  • Earrings base
  • Key ring
  • Necklace cord
  • Metal ring

Step 1: Where to Get These Plastics

The other day I ordered sushi and it came in these boxes, as I didn't want to throw them away I looked for what I could do with them. It is important to know that in order to make this craft, the number 6 must be inside a triangle on the plastic (see third picture).

The first step is to clean the boxes well and let them dry..

Step 2: Cut the Edges

Cut the edges so you can draw better.

Step 3: Draw

Choose your desing, use permanent marker, you can also use coloured permanent markers.

Step 4: Cut Out the Drawing

You can leave a border of a few millimetres, but I like it that way, without border. If you are going to make earrings, necklaces and key rings you have to make a hole with the hole punch. There is another way to make earrings which is explained below.

Step 5: Oven

Prepare a oven tray with aluminium foil. Preheat the oven 5 min before at 180ºC (356ºF) with heat up and down, (it's depends on the size of the oven, I recommend doing some tests). Put the tray in for 2 or 3 minutes, the plastic will start to twist and shrink. When it stops shrinking, take the tray out and flatten the shapes with the bottom of a glass. The plastic will shrink three times its size.

Step 6: Paint

Decide whether you want to leave it transparent or coloured. If you choose coloured, paint it with a nail polish, paint on the same side of the marker. I did two coats of green. When it dry, paint the other side with transparent nail polish.

If you want the whole drawing to be transparent, paint the marker side first with transparent nail polish and when it dries, paint the other side with transparent nail polish too.

Step 7: Earrings

I reused these hooks from others old earrings. To make it without a hole you need this type of earrings base, you have to glue it to the back of your plastic.

Step 8: Necklace and Key Chain

Use a metal ring to put it through the hole and attach it to your necklace or keys.
