Easy Bacon and Cheese Breakfast Quiche

Introduction: Easy Bacon and Cheese Breakfast Quiche

About: Hello and Welcome to In the Kitchen With Matt. I am your host Matt Taylor. My goal for the show is to teach you how to cook really good food at home for cheap. Eating out everyday can get expensive, but it doe…

In this instructable I will show you how to make a Quiche, more specifically an easy bacon and cheese breakfast Quiche. Quiche's are super delicious and really easy to make, great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If I can make these you can make them, let's get baking!

If you have any questions or comments, put them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Follow the easy steps below or watch the short video tutorial, or do both!

Step 1: Ingredients/Tools

You may print this recipe here if you like.

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of Heavy Whipping Cream (or half and half, whole milk). (240ml)
  • 1/4 tsp. of pepper (.5 g)
  • 1/4 tsp. of salt (1.5 g)
  • 6 to 8 slices of cooked bacon (or sausage, ham, etc.)
  • 1/4 cup of minced onion (optional) (40g)
  • 1 cup of shredded Cheddar Cheese (or Jack, Gruyère, etc.)
  • Green onion of garnish (optional)
  • 9 inch pie crust (ready-made or homemade)

Step 2: Preheat, Beat, Pour, Mix

First let's preheat our oven to 375 degrees F. (190 C). Next let's beat our eggs a little bit with a whisk. Then add the heavy whipping cream (half and half, or whole milk), then mix them both together well.

Step 3: Salt and Pepper

Next let's add in our salt and pepper and mix those ingredients in well. You could certainly add them in at the beginning with the cream too.

Step 4: The Pan

Next use a ready-made pie crust or a homemade pie crust and fill up a 9 inch tart pan. Optionally you can use a pie plate, pie pan, spring form pan, or even a square pan. If you would like a nice homemade buttery flaky pie crust check out my instructable on apple pie. https://www.instructables.com/id/Homemade-Apple-Pie-With-Flaky-Crust/

Step 5: Bacon, Onions, and Cheese, Oh My!

Now let's add our bacon, onion, and cheese. Here is where you can make substitutions if you like. Sausage, ham, etc., make good substitutes for the bacon, well let's be honest is there really a good substitute for bacon? haha, but I digress. You could add in spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, etc. Use whatever kind of cheese you want. Have fun with it! Then pour the egg and cream mixture over the ingredients and bake the quiche in the oven for 25 to 35 minutes, until when you insert a toothpick, it comes out clean.

***If you are adding additional ingredients to the ones already there, depending on how many you add, you made need a bigger pan. :)

Step 6: Cool, Garnish, Release, Serve

Now after the Quiche comes out of the oven, let's let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes, then add a garnish if you like. I had some fresh green onion growing in my garden, so I thought I would use that. Next release the quiche from the tart pan by pushing up on the bottom. Now cut into it and serve up a slice, or two or three! Enjoy!

Step 7: Video Tutorial

Now check out those steps in action by watching the short video tutorial!

I made this today but used bulk maple flavored breakfast sausage made from a locally grown pig. It was fabulous and will be a breakfast I will make again! Thank you for such a great recipe!

I actually cooked the breakfast sausage with the onion of course before I put it in the pie shell. I have leftovers so guess what I am having for lunch today?! Your video was so clear and well made. I wrote down the ingredients and didn't have to refer back to it when I made it at 6:30 this morning. By the time I had finished writing it down, because of your video, it was all in my head when I was ready to make it.
