Introduction: DIY Easy Braided Yarn Cowl
I've been wondering what to do with the huge yarn collection gifted by my uncle last week. Since I don't know much about crocheting or knitting so I had to come up with an easy and nice idea. This instructable will show you how to make this cowl so easily, even if you're a beginner at crafting.
Gather all the materials and get started!
Step 1: Materials Needed
To make this cowl you'll need:
- Yarns (4 different colors),
- Fabric glue.
Step 2: Preparing the Strands
You can use only one color if you want to but I used 4 different colors.
Take a yarn bundle and wrap a strand around you (from shoulder to shoulder),
Add 3 inches extra and cut yarn,
Now use this strand to cut 11 more strands and you'll have total 12 strands of yarn. Make sure to keep the length of every strand equal.
Step 3: Braiding
Hold all the 12 strands together and tie a knot at any one end. Do not use too much yarn for the knot.
Place the knotted yarn on a flat surface and use a small amount of duct tape to fix it with the surface,
Divide the strands into 3 equal sections (4 for each section) as we're going to do 3 strand braid.
Simply do 3 strand braid until you reach the end of the yarn,
When you'll reach the end use a small amount of yarn and glue it around the end to make sure it's secure.
* The braid shouldn't be too tight, try keeping it loose.
Step 4: Adjusting the Braids
Make 8-10 braids of approximately the same length.
Hold the knotted ends of the braids together.
Twist all the braids together once or twice and make a round pattern by joining both ends.
Step 5: Attaching the Braids
Cut out more yarns (enough to wrap the joint part of the braids),
Wrap and tie a knot with the cut out yarns around the joint part,
Step 6: Final Touch
Wrap the yarns until the whole joint part is covered.
After reaching the end apply some glue on the yarns and tuck them in the wrapped yarns.
Allow the glue to try.
Done! Use different colors for more fun patterns. Enjoy!
