Introduction: Easy Crochet Potholder
These crocheted potholders are easy and fast and can be used as coasters, dishcloths, washcloths, or pot holders. Enjoy!
Abbreviations:
Sl st: slip stitch
DC: double crochet
Step 1: Materials
What you'll need:
Four colors medium weight yarn (I used cotton)
5.0 mm hook
Scissors
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Step 2: Round 1
With first color, make a magic ring. Chain 3 and DC twice inside ring. *3 DC, chain 2*, around. Fasten off color 1.
Step 3: Round 2
Attach second color with a sl st in chain 2 space. Chain three. DC in chain 2 space. DC across next three stitches.
*2 DC, chain 2, 2 DC in next chain 2 space. DC across next three stitches.* Repeat from * to * around the square. Fasten off your second color.
Step 4: Rounds 3-4
Attach third color with a sl st in a chain 2 space. Chain 3 and DC also in chain 2 space. Now you're just going to repeat the established pattern for a few more rounds. *2 DC, chain 2, 2 DC in chain 2 space, DC across* for however many rounds you like to make your dishcloth as large or small you want.
Step 5: Round 5
With any color (I used the last color), sl st around in every stitch around the square. When you get to the last corner, chain 7, sl st in same stitch, continue sl st-ing around. This works as a loop to hang the cloth by. Fasten off and weave in ends. Your dishcloth is finished!

Thanks for this! I'm a newbie crocheter, and I'm in the middle of a very large afghan. I need a little break, and smaller projects to do after a really large project like the one I'm doing. I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to do this, I hope, anyway!
