Introduction: Easy Embroidered Reflective Badges

About: We are two best friends from Croatia and mothers of two beautiful and fun little boys! We share the same name - Maja, and same interests in diy culture, upcycling, sustainable living, vintage clothing and furn…

I love wearing pins and badges so I often make them! I came up with these reflective ones while thinking how to improve visibility in traffic in a fun way, for kids and adults! These are cheap and easy to make, they won't take up much of your time but they will make you look cool while biking and would look extra cool on your kids' school bags! Make them for yourself, your kids and your friends, in any shape you want!

Step 1: Supplies:

Thick felt, sew on reflective trim (50 mm wide) or any other reflective fabric, pin backs, heavy duty hand sewing thread, hand sewing needle, scissors, contact adhesive.

Step 2:

Cut reflective material depending on the number and size of your badges, then cut a piece of thick felt in the same size.

Step 3:

Apply adhesive on both, the felt piece and on the backside of reflective fabric piece. Spread the adhesive in thin layer and let it dry a bit, then glue the pieces together and press hard.

Step 4:

Choose any shape you want and cut! If you want you can draw shapes on the reflective fabric with a marker or a pen and then cut, or you can just skip drawing and freehand!

Step 5:

Use back stiching to embroider edges of your shapes or do any other design you want with a hand sewing needle and heavy duty thread. Again, you can draw your design prior to stiching or not!

Step 6:

Sew pin backs on the back of your badges and you are done! Easy peasy!
