Introduction: Effective and Useful and Adjustable Illumination Device
In this constructable you shall develop a device with which you shall bathe both spiritual and visual in ebullient radiance.
Hope You Enjoy The Journey,
Thuxt Dan
Step 1: Materials
One [1] Illumination Component
(12e^4)^0 [1] Circuit Board
More Than None, But Not Multiple [1] Container
A Bunch [5] Wire
A Whole Bunch [12] Or More [12+] Acid Tube (power level 9)
A Single [1] Wire Alternator
One [1] Sticky Strips
Step 2: Step, Two, Effects
Differing brightness levels are the KEY to adjustivity. As such, we need separate battery claques for each level of brightness.
I decided to use two brightness settings, in addition to one setting where he battery is off. This is because the switch I was using had three settings.
With our light bulb, a large bulb withstanding heavy voltage, we decided to use four (4) batteries with 9 volts in each of those four (4) batteries. This was the lowest brightness setting, which displays a radiantly lovely amber colour--instilling nostalgia during the spring and wistful sentimentality during the fall. This is what makes the device effective--for its emotional resonance matches its number of batteries. This is also useful, as it can easily soften even the most aggressive of assailants during dangerous situations.
Although far less useful, our higher brightness setting used eight (8) batteries. With these eight (8), the light bulb was able to expand its incandescence to a brilliant, all-encompassing maelstrom of furor. With this setting, dark rooms become very slightly visible.
Step 3: Step. 3
It is now that we shall create circuit.
Using electrical sticky strips, bond each set of batteries--you should have two completely interconnected groups of four and eight. Remember, connect the 9 volt batteries using their connectable socket-resembling appendages (see visual).
A complete circuit can be created by simply using two wires to connect both sides of the battery cluster with the bottom and side (respectively) of the light bulb's metal bit. However, as this is an ADJUSTABLE Useful and Effective and Adjustable Illumination Device, we'll need to attach both of these to the switch to complete the circuit.
Attach one wire to the first "on" setting of the switch, and another wire to the other "on" setting. These two wires go to each battery cluster. From each battery cluster is another wire, and these two wires exiting the conglomerates meet in the center. From here, another wire attaches from this intersection to the bottom of the bulb. The third wire on the switch goes to the side of the bulb's metal bit. I, Dan, have attached a simple and easy interpreted diagram to demonstrate this phenomenon.
"Thuxt though, how does a circuit work?"
is what you are saying out loud right now.
"I will tell you"
is how I respond.
Step 4: Aside Time: Let's Explore Science
So here's what's down and up my friend:
The light bulb makes light as a result of the electrons moving through its filament, causing it to glow. Higher voltage in the batteries, also known as "electric potential" or "the difference in charge between two ends", means that there is a higher amount of light. When the switch is switched, the electrons are blocked from one path and access another one of the paths, because electrons can only move through a complete connected circuit.
"And that's science!"
Step 5: Step [\\<~4~>//]
Once you have connected everything to the switch, test the switch and connections to make sure it all works. If the light bulb evokes intense positive or mixed positive/negative emotions, you have succeeded at creating the device in part. However, how may we upholster this apparatus such that it is functional within a contained space?
Only then will true enlightenment shall be achieved.
Take a box made with pasteboard or stiff paper. Carve a hole the size of the lightbulb's maximum circumference, and have it stick out of the box partway. It should appear as a head escaping a shirt two sizes too small.
The entire apparatus, connected now in complete circuit, should be inside of a box. Good job! Make sure that all connections are still fastened through utilization of the switch.
Step 6: Step 5: Tape: Part I: Selecting the Roll
When selecting tape, it's important that one selects the correct roll. Not only can the incorrect tape decision be disastrous, tacky, or worse, but many rolls do not even sport tape on their exterior at all! Make sure you select a roll with a very long sticky strip on it. If needed, you can tear the sticky strip, creating smaller pieces. The type of strips I used, which I highly recommend, was a roll (WITH TAPE ON IT) and the tape was silverish colored. It was a little shiny and the roll was made of cardboard. Try to get that kind of tape, although electrical tape should be used with any sensitive electronics.
Step 7: Step 5: Tape: Part II: Removing the Tape From the Roll
If you're reading this and you've selected a roll, congratulations! You have selected a roll!
Assuming that you've selected a tape roll that has tape on it, the next activity that you need to must perform is removing enough tape to use in taping your device from the larger tape group.
In interest of removing the tape, locate the edge of the tape and pull it away from the tape group. Once desired tape length has been removed from the tape group, separate the tape from the roll through use of great force.
Step 8: Step Five: Tape: Episode III: Tape of the Sith
Using the tape that you removed from the roll during Step 8: Step 5: Tape: Part II: Removing The Tape From The Roll, to tape the various components have were assembled into the optimal design of a device that you decide. Exampled is mine.
Step 9: Step : Impact of Illumination
