Egg in the Frame - or Egg in the Hole, as it's also known, is an easy, fun and tasty dish. It's a great simple little recipe for a kid's cooking project, and easy to do over a campfire.

Step 1: Ingredients

This is 2 (1/2) ingredient wonder (if you really want to count the little dab of butter!)

  • 1 slice of bread
  • 1 egg
  • butter

and something to make a hole in your bread.

Step 2: Make Your Frame

Use a mason jar or jar lid to cut a circle out of your bread - kids' favorite part! Twist your jar or lid a few times on the bread to make your circle then gently pry out the center of your bread slice.

Voila! Your "frame" is ready!

Step 3: Grill Bread

Put about a tablespoon of butter in a small pan, heat and then lay in your holey bread. Turn after a a minute or so, or when your bread is toasty brown underneath.

Step 4: Add Egg

Crack your egg right into the hole! (Kids like this part, too!)

Cook for a couple of minutes until your egg whites start to whiten and your yoke starts to thicken, then flip the whole thing over and cook another minute or so.

Step 5: Plate and Serve!

Yum! There you have - a tasty little Egg in the Frame! Serve with a little fried ham or bacon, and you've got a great, simple, and tasty breakfast!

Cheers!
