Introduction: Eggshell Tea Light

In this instructable, you will learn how to make outdoor eggshell tea light holders to add to atmosphere to your backyard during the night!

Supplies

Hands-on Time: 15-20 Mins

Waiting Time: 25 Mins

Total Time: 45-55Mins

  • 1/2 Dozen (6) Large White Eggs
  • Scissors
  • Water
  • 6 Tea Lights
  • Paintbrush
  • 6 Colors of Acrylic Paint

Step 1: Rinse the Eggs

Rinse the eggs under warm water.

Step 2: Puncture the Eggs

Use the scissors to puncture the eggshell by gently tapping the top until the scissors crack through.

WARNING!!!

Make sure not to jab at the eggshell, otherwise it might break and you could be hurt by the scissors.

Step 3: Remove the Egg Yolk and White From the Egg

Peel back more of the eggshell and carefully pour the egg yolk and egg white into a bowl.

Step 4: Finish the Shape

Peel the eggshell until it looks about right to you. I prefer slightly jagged edges, but you can make yours look however you like.

(Repeat steps 1-4 Until all 6 eggs look like this one)

Step 5: Paint the Eggs!

Use your favorite 6 colors of acrylic paint to color the eggshells!

Once you’re done, you can sit back, relax and watch the paint dry… for half an hour. *Sigh* Trust me, it will be worth it in the end!

Step 6: Enjoy!

Once the paint is dry, you can finally use your DIY eggshell tea lights to keep the party going into the night!

*If, due to the shape of eggs, you have trouble keeping the tea lights upright, you can 1.) use sticky tack or 2.) 3D Print the egg stand*
