Enclosure for an Electric Guitar Amplifier

This is an electric guitar head made of an old Audiovox combo amplifier, it is easy to carry and use with any speaker cabinet.

Step 1:

This is a 1x12 combo guitar amp, one 12" speaker, but i'm going to use the amplifier part only.

Step 2:

The stuff i used:

Plywood(1/2" birch)
Vinyl and felt
3M vinyl adhesive
Liquid nails adhesive
Spray paint
Screws
1/4 phone jack

Step 3:

Tools:

jig saw
Hand saw
Hammer
Staple gun
Screw driver

Step 4:

Cut and glued plywood, top and bottom 4" wider than the amp
Sides are 9" top to bottom and 9" back to front
Gluing all this together form a rectangular box with
open back and open front, i used 3/4" by 3/4" wood to joint
all four angles together and to attach the back and front covers.

Step 5:

Mount the amp in to the enclosure to drill the holes for the screws.

Step 6:

Here is the enclosure painted in the inside and
with the vinyl outside. To glue the vinyl cut it 1/2" wider than
the enclosure to fold it thru the inside by the edges use the staples to keep it firm
Spray the 3M adhesive all over the vinyl and the wood
wait for about 4 minutes and place the the enclosure on top
of the vinyl by the very end and start wrapping the enclosure up
make sure you do it evenly.

Step 7:

I cut the original power cord and i used a jack to connect the power in.
The audio out was going straight to the speaker so now is gong to the
1/4 phone jack and from here goes to any speaker cabinet.

Step 8:

Front cover with vinyl and the grill.

Step 9:

The back cover is the same shape than the front just without the grill part
the metal plate is use in construction for electrical purpose, the power jack is
from an old printer.
