End Table with fake drawer and shelf.

Supplies

Tools: Table Saw, Miter Saw, Router, Planer, Jointer, Drill, Palm Sander

Step 1: Legs

Cut out all leg pieces (may need a little extra to get to 2inch width after the glue up), after they are cut out glue them all together in groups of 2-3 pieces.

Step 2: Top and Shelf

While legs are drying, cut out Top and Shelf pieces and glue them up.

Step 3: Legs Finishing

Once Legs are out of clamps, plane them down so they are 2"x2" and cut them to final length of 24 1/8"

Step 4: Other Pieces

While Top and Shelf are in clamps, cut out all other pieces: Side bars, drawer shelf bottom, drawer shelf sides, and drawer shelf back.

Step 5: Top and Shelf Finishing

Once the top and shelf are out of clamps, plane and cut them to final thickness and dimensions. Top= 14x14x7/8" and Shelf= 12x12x3/4"

Step 6: Drawer Pieces

Cut out all drawer pieces: Drawer bottom, drawer sides, and drawer front.

Step 7: Drawer Details

On the drawer side pieces, cut 45-degree miters on all ends, and cut 1/2" wide 1/4" deep rabbets on one edge.

Step 8: Drawer Glue Up #1

Glue up the drawer sides. (Make sure all pieces are lined up)

Step 9: Shelf Notches

While drawer is drying, cut out 2x2" notches on all corners of the shelf piece. This is where the legs will go.

Step 10: Drawer Shelf Sides Rabbets

Cut out 3/4" wide 3/8" deep rabbets are one edge of both of the drawer shelf side pieces.

Step 11: Drawer Glue Up #2

After the first glue up glue in the drawer bottom. It sits on the rabbets.

Step 12: Drawer Shelf Bottom Notches

Cut 2" by 3/8" notches in the corners of the drawer shelf bottom.

Step 13: Side Bar Notches

Cut 3/4" by 5 1/4" notches on the edges of the side bars.

Step 14: Drawer Front Rout

Rout a small 45-degree chamfer on the edges of one side of the drawer front.

Step 15: Drawer Glue Up #3

After the second glue up, glue the drawer front to the box that is already made.

Step 16: Top Rout

Rout a 45-degree chamfer on all edges of the top

Step 17: Assembly #1

To start the assembly process, glue the shelf to the legs 6" from the bottom of the legs. Use Spacers to help keep it in place.

Step 18: Assembly #2

Next to reinforce the shelf, install L brackets under the shelf attached to the legs.

Step 19: Assembly #3

Then glue the drawer shelf bottom to the legs 12" from the top of the shelf. I would recommend using a spacer for this.

Step 20: Assembly #4

Glue the drawer shelf sides and back to the drawer shelf. For the side pieces the rabbet should cover the edge of the drawer shelf, and the back just goes on top of the drawer shelf.

Step 21: Drawer Pull

Attach the drawer pull to the drawer by drilling holes through the front in order to screw the bolts in from the back.

Step 22: Glue in the Drawer

To glue in the drawer, you'll need a piece that the drawers sit on, this piece must be the correct size, so the drawer sits level with the top of the legs. Once you have this piece glue the drawer in.

Step 23: Assembly #5

Glue the side bars onto the table by gluing them to the top of the shelf and the drawer shelf sides, spacing the edge ones 1 1/2" away from the legs and the middle ones 1 3/8" inches away from the edge side bars.

Step 24: Assembly #6

Glue the top on applying even clamping pressure. Before you do this just make sure what you are gluing to is level.

Step 25: Finish

After the glue dries you are finished, if you would like to add finish to it, just sand any imperfections and excess glue and put the finish on.
