Introduction: Europa Base

Hello, I'm a senior high school student who is majoring in manufacturing engineering. I designed a base for the icy tundra of Europa on one of the moons of Jupiter. There are 5 modules in my station that help to substation the people who would be living and working there. Some of the modules include a power plant to supply the station with the needed electrical as well as other machines needed for everyday operation, there is also a mining module to help in the harvesting of ice on the cold moon and help to produce water and air for the station, the gardening module would be needed in the harvesting of much-needed food as well as the convention of carbon dioxide to oxygen, the cafeteria would be the hub of the station were everyone would gather as well as house the kitchen, and living quarters to house each of the people who have joined in the mission.

Step 1: Garden

The Garden is the largest dome in the center of the station and is where food is grown. It is the hub between the other domes, like the center of a wheel so the other domes branch off of it.

Step 2: Cafeteria

The cafeteria looks similar to the garden but it is separated into two parts the kitchen and the eating area. This is the main area that the crew will be able to relax and hang out. The kitchen has its own area that is used to prepare meals as well as store the items that would be required for daily living. The other area is for the crew to sit and enjoy meals, talk with colleagues, and decompress for their daily activities.

Step 3: Living Quarters

There are 4 rooms in this segment of the module station. Three are for living with beds and storage space for their personal items as well as a desk and a dresser. There is also a washroom for them to use to shower and take care of personal business, it is set up for both sexes.

Step 4: Reactor

Europa is a cold planet so a nuclear reactor will work well in this type of climate. The reactor will be supplied with ice to cool it down, which the planet has a lot of as well supplying power to the entire station. Other equipment that in necessary to maintain the station will be placed in this model as well, such as oxygen machines, and composed.

Step 5: Mine

The mine is to collect ice for the reactor and to melt the ice for water for the station. This water can be used for cooking, cleaning, bathing, gardening, and producing oxygen.
