Today I'll be showing you how to make an Everyday Carry Sheet! This is a great way to keep all your essential items in one place that is easy to take out and chuck into whatever bag you're using on a specific day!

So what is this, you ask? Well when going to school I found myself carrying a set of items everyday. This I could need on any day regardless what I was going to do. I wanted an easy and organized way to carry all these items. So the Everyday Carry Sheet was born!

Let's get started!

Step 1: Parts and Tools

You are going to need the following:

Parts:

Plastic sheet
- I just used the cover from a notebook
Elastic fabric rubber band
- You can buy this or just use the elastic from a notebook
Brass fasteners
- The kind of paperclip you push through a hole and spread

Tools:

X-acto knife
Cutting mat
Something to attach and carry

Step 2: Planning the Placement

Start by placing out all your items onto the plastic sheet. This will help plan how long each elastic pocket will be. The elastic pockets are the areas not pinned down to the sheet where you can place the stuff.

It's a good idea to leave a bit extra space between your items so you have enough room for the elastic to expand when you push in and take out one of your items.

Now when deciding where to place the brass fasteners, if you plan on storing a long and fairly thing item, like my power bank, it helps to stretch the elastic before you fasten it. When the elastic is tighter it will be harder for thinner items to slide out.

On the other hand, where you plan on storing thick items leave the elastic fairly loos so it has room to expand and hold your item.

Step 3: Making the Pockets

Actually making the pockets is actually pretty easy and straightforward, you just need to repeat the same steps a lot.

Use your x-acto knife and make a cut in the plastic sheet about the size of the legs on the brass fasteners. Don't push to hard on the plastic, this can cause the knife to slip. Instead go over the same area several times or lift the sheet slightly and push your knife through to the other side.

Now make a small cut in the elastic. Remember the elastic will expand so make the cut a bit smaller than the actual size of the brass fastener legs.

Push the brass fastener through the elastic and then through the hole in the plastic sheet. Bend the brass legs on the other side of the plastic sheet and this will make everything stay put.

That's how easy it is!

Now you just need to place down your items or estimate how much of a gap in the elastics band you need to create your pockets. Move this distance along the elastic band and repeat the steps to fasten it to the plastic sheet.

It's a good idea to sometimes stop and test fit your items so you know how to estimate how much elastic to use on each pocket. When you're done you just trim of the excess elastic on the sides of the plastic sheet.

Step 4: Finished!

Congratulations you're done and that's how easy it is!

Now fasten all your everyday carry items and chuck the sheet in your bag!
