Introduction: Extra Crispy Blackberry Crisp
Blackberries say summer to me. Now that we live in the country my husband picks them everyday after work. It is one way winds down. I can use recipe in any season because it works with frozen blackberries too.
Step 1: Ingredients
It took 6 little people one afternoon to pick enough berries for this cobbler but I don't think all the berries made it to the bucket. You will need:
4 cups blackberries (frozen or fresh)
1 1/2 cup oats
3/4 pecans chopped
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
a pinch of salt
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Step 2: Prep for Baking
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 9 by 13 pan.
Step 3: Berries
Wash berries and pour in pan.
Step 4: Mix Dry Ingredients
Other recipe's call for a little less of the crisp part at the top but I really love that part so I changed the recipe and put a little extra. I put 1 1/2 cups oats, 3/4 cup of pecans, 1/2 cup flour (whatever flour you like really), 1/2 brown sugar (you could use maple syrup or honey instead), a pinch of salt, and your cinnamon.
Step 5: Add the Oil
I used butter but you could use any kind of oil. Mix it with the dry ingredients and pour it on top of the berries.
Step 6: Bake, Cool, and Serve
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Cool and serve. It is great with vanilla ice cream. This recipe can be used with any kind of fruit, apples, pears, blueberries, or strawberries. The sky is the limit.
