introThe FAWT Silo. ( vawt wind turbine hawt savonius )
The FAWT Silo is one of my ideas to improve the efficiency of VAWT.

we know that the best VAWT can only be 45% vs The HAWT in efficiency.

well The FAWT is a VAWT but it uses lift like the HAWT to create the rotation spin.

the idea is simple, I took the wind from a horizontal direction to a downward direction, and yes I was successfull, there is a lot more modifications to be done but few bucks at a time I can only spend my allowance, no investors yet....
i have all the uptodate pics

Can you pleas advise as to the sources/suppliers/manufacturers of economic, efficient, low speed DC alternators/generators for such domestic scale turbines at say 1kW from a speed of only 500rpm, as I'm having difficulties to source?

AIR it's the worlds best selling wind turbine costs about six hundred dollars has a state of the art generator made with neodynium magnets and they sell the generator seperate if you trying to build your own turbuine. I suggest never using plywood only for desing prototypes before testing it's time vs materials issue. plywood if it was great design you be building a second or third one and each time you learn if you got old car around and who doesnt sell it buy generator and extra genenerator for it use it to experment with as other one will have all the required electronics, inverters and diodes to protect from overcharging. could happen on windy day
here are few links for the most commenly used by the average person.
look for at least 3 bladed HAWT.
the missouriwindand solar looks promising in terms of quality of product and prices. but please make sure you read and understand thier products first.
there are PMA with  iron and there are the Axial-Flux PMA.
read about thease types of pmg.
for a starter i would recommend to understand the car modified Alternator PMA and it is good product to start with.

Cheers Sam for all that contact info, i'd better get started, thx again for your help.

FAWT ?? what does the F stand for?
it sands for "Fixed axis wind turbine" i hope that makes sense, regards sam
so it does what with what? you might want to elaborate on the acronyms ;-)
the FAWT Silo is a wind turbine, the wind spins a prop and the prop is connected to a pmg ( permanent magnet generator ) and that produces dc power that can be stored and used at a later time.
