Introduction: Felt Case With Pull Strap

Make a custom case out of felt for your delicate electronic devices (or whatever else you think needs a case).
We will include a strap for easily removing the item from the case.

Materials needed:

  • Some felt
  • Pair of scissors
  • Piece of thick ribbon
  • Ruler
  • Sewing machine

Step 1: Cut the Felt to Size

Cut two pieces of felt (in the color of your choice) into the shape of the item the case is for.

Mine was simply rectangular. Make sure to cut the felt larger than the size of the item.

I added about 1 cm to both sides as well as 2 cm vertically. My device was about 8 mm thick.

Make sure that the pieces are the same size and fit well on each other.

Step 2: Add the Strap

Use a piece of thick decorative ribbon for the pull strap that will be used to pull the item a bit aout of the case.

Cut it to length so that is is about two times the height of the case.

Sew the end of the ribbon to about the middle of one of the felt panels. In the end, the ribbon will wrap around the item once and the come out the top.

Step 3: Sew the Sides Together

Lay the two felt panels on top of each other and sew around the edge once in a straight stitch, leaving one of the sides open.

Then add a zigzag stitch to make sure the sides stay together.

After you have sewn one side, try fitting in the item in case you need to move the second stitch a bit.

Step 4: Done! Add Your Device.

Put your item in the case, making sure to push the strap into the case.

When pulling the strap the device should come out a bit.

Enjoy!
