Felting Molang

In this instructions set you will learn how to felt a Korean bunny character named Molang. When one felts, it usually consists of having wool fibers become tangled and compacted by repeatedly stabbing a single, barbed needle (called a felting needle) into the fibers, creating a sculpture. One is able to felt anything and is only bound by imagination.

A felting needle is needed specifically due to the barbs on the sides of it so it will be able to catch the scales of the wool and entangle them when being moved up and down. Fine felting needles are thin and able to glide into the wool without leaving big holes behind and create fine details. Coarse felting needles are more durable and easier to work with when creating larger objects. A piece of foam or sponge can help protect you from stabbing yourself as you can place the wool on top of it and jab into it that way.

Step 1: Materials

• Felting needle
• Assorted amounts & colors of wool
• Piece of foam or sponge (optional)

Step 2: Grab a Handful of Wool of Any Color Wanted Slightly Bigger Than the Size of Your Fist.

This will be the body.

Step 3: Stab Until You Have a Dense Ball.

This is to make sure you have a durable body.

Step 4: Add More Fluff to Create a "jelly Bean" Shape.

This will give the main body a shape.

Step 5: Tear and Roll Up Small Amounts of Wool for the Ears, Hands, and Legs.

4 round shapes for hands and legs and 2 cylindrical shapes for ears.

Step 6: Roll Tightly.

This will speed up the felting process.

Step 7: Felt Only One Side and Leave the Other End Fluffy.

This will make it easier to felt the limbs into the main body.

Step 8: Open the End Fiber and Place on Body.

Step 9: Felt From All Sides.

This will securely attach the piece.

Step 10: Attach the Rest of the Body Pieces.

Step 11: Felt the Bottom Flat.

This will allow the body to sit up.

Step 12: Roll Up a Small Ball.

This will be a tail.

Step 13: Felt Onto the Bottom.

Step 14: Add Extra Wool Between the 2 Connections.

This will hide any imperfections.

Step 15: Roll Up 2 Balls of a Different Colored Wool Between Fingers and Attach.

These will be the eyes.

Step 16: Add the Mouth As a Small Upside Down "v" in Between the Eyes.

Step 17: Do a Final Touch-up.

Felt any places that need felting. Hopefully yours will turn out much better and cuter than mine. :)
