Introduction: Fix a Broken Zip

Hi everyone!

In this fast and short ible I will show you how to remove a broken zipper and how to replace it with a new one.

It will take less than 5minutes and you don't have to buy nothing because all you need is a zip slider taken from an old bag/wallet or anything else and 3/4cm of thread.

Let's go to the next step to see better materials and tools.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

MATERIALS:
-your object with the broken zip
-zip slider (a new one or taken from an old wallet/bag/dress ecc)

TOOLS:
-scissors
-needle
-thread
-lighter

Step 2: Remove the Broken Slider and Insert the New One

In order to remove your old and broken slider you have to cut the slider stop.

Once you did it you can insert the new slider and you can check if the teeths are closing in the right way.

If it's all OK like in photo #6 you can go to the next step ;)

Step 3: Sew a New Stop

In this step we will essentially create a new stop out of thread.

Take your thread and insert it into the needle hole.

Sew 10/15 stitches across the bottom of the zipper where the preexisting stop used to be.

Burn the thread's end to make it more resistant and try if it does his job :D (see photo #7)

Step 4: Finish!!

DONE!! It takes less than you thought before to start.

The new zip slider looks cooler than the preexisting and it looks also the original one!

Obviously you can repeat the full process with any kind of zipper you have broken! For example with jacket or sweatshirts.

I hope this little ible will be helpful to you!
