The 4" flapper valve chronically leaks, but then it only has about 2 inches of water to hold it in place. I bought a pound of 10-gauge PLAIN solder (not acid or rosin core) and wound it into a coil using a soup can. The solder is stiff enough you can form a loop to hold the coil in place. This stopped the repetitive running of the toilet, which was costing us 13 gallons per hour.
Is this still holding up? Glad I saw this as I was thinking of doing something similar to create a better seal. I have replaced the gasket 3 times in the least year alone.
Thanks for the video. I wasn't able to get to the store soon so I was able to cut off the "bump", almost like a bubble of air that contained some water. The cut side I put up since it doesn't help with the seal at all. The good side is down now minus the bump which is what was causing the seal to leak. Nice and flat now. Got to just be careful not to cut too much off or damage the seal. Works great and saved a trip to the store and I guess $5 for parts.

Thanks for the video and instructions. I followed them exactly, nice and simple. However, if the toilet still leaks, what could be the source of my problem?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the video and the instructions. I followed them exactly. So if my toilet is still leaking what else could the problem be? Thanks again.

the green cap has a few broken off pieces, can I replace the cap too? I can't find this flapper cap in any stores

i check the price here http://www.champtoilet.com/americanstandard-2034014020-champion4/ and its $388 , though i believe its one of the best one-piece toilet in the market today
