Introduction: Fixing a Squeaky Door Without a Trip to the Hardware Store
Nothing annoys me like a squeaky door!
OK, maybe that isn't quite true, a lot of things annoy me worse than a squeaky door but a squeaky door is obnoxious. I am not very patient, so when I want something taken care of.....such as a creaky hinge....I will figure out how to get it done and most often times it is on a limited budget.
This is a great quick fix that I discovered one day out of pure frustration and I still use it.
Step 1: Get It Together!
What you will need:
A squeaky door...Duh
A can of cooking spray
A paper towel
Step 2: Locate and Terminate...dun Dun Dun!
I try to pin the blame on the squeaker by moving the door back and forth while listening to the creaking.
When you find the guilty hinge, spray it with the cooking spray by holding it about an inch from your target.
I recommend aiming for the cracks where the hinge is joined together.
Wiggle the door back and forth again to work the oil into the hinge.
I did both the top and bottom hinges this time.
Step 3: Wipe Properly
I used a paper towel to wipe up the extra cooking spray.
You can go the extra mile with a little soap and water if you are worried about it.
