Intro: Fixing a Drippy Air Conditioning Indoor Unit.

This indoor blower has recently developed a problem where condensate drips out of the unit. Quite annoying. Here is how I went about fixing this leak as best as I could.

STEP 1: Opening the Face of the Evaporator Blower Unit.

The front of this model is held by a 5 Phillips head screws (3 on the bottom and 2 near the middle) and plastic clips.

The bottom of the plastic front where the 3 screws were, needs to pried gently downwards and forward. Now the entire front face can be lifted upward and away.

The digital display needs to be unclippped and the thermal sensor removed.

STEP 2: Removing the Drain Catch.

The drain catch is that long trough at the base of the blower impeller. It comes off easily by pulling it forward.

The stepper motor is held by 2 screws and needs to be removed.

STEP 3: Investigation.

Ah ha! The drain from the catch is clogged with gunk. The drain line to outside I also saw some crap inside.

STEP 4: Cleaning!

With the gunk cleared out (drain catch and outlet tube to outside) and the blower blades brushed clean it was time for reassembly.

STEP 5: Completion!

Reassembly was the reverse of removal. Now the unit works great and no more water dripping!

when I had that problem, i blew with blower from drain side :P worked like charm (not recommending this method at all)

Nice instruction for diy fixing. As A/C technican I had to note, that not only a clogged drain tub will lead into dew dripping. Also the drain tube itself will clog with alagea or the drain tub can get a crack an gets leaky..
