Yes, cayenne pepper is used.

On this picture, the length may look like little short, unexpectedly. Because the seed is spicy, three cayenne pepper are used per about soup 300g.
May I ask what the sardine is supposed to do? I am very curious to try this recipe. I LOVE to try and cook new things. You did a great job with the instructable :).
It may be a kind of aroma, actually tastes of sardine is overwritten by japanese soy sauce, sesame oil and red pepper. But, without sesame oil and sardine, the total tastes become too light.
