Using some pots to mark you house address can be a nice touch to your home.

You can color each pot a different color or have them uniform like the pots in the picture.

You can use any size or shape of pot as well

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather your supplies

Paint brushes
Small plastic cups to hold paint
Brushes
Acrylic paint
All purpose sealer
Exterior varnish
One terra cotta pot for each house number
removable vinyl or vinyl numbers

Step 2: Prime Your Pots

Terra cotta pots are very porous and absorb moister easily. If you do not prime them they will not hold the paint well.

be sure and prime all surfaces of the pot, inside and out

Step 3: Cut the Numbers Out

You can purchase removable numbers or cut them out by hand or with a vinyl cutter.

The size of your numbers will depend on the size of your pot. A larger pot will need larger numbers.

It does not matter what it looks like as it is only temporary and will be removed. I use a really obvious patterned shelf paper as it is cheap

Step 4: Apply the Numbers

Peal the back off the numbers and apply them where you want them

Be sure to adhere them well to the pot so the paint does not seep behind them

Step 5: Paint the Pots

Paint the pots on the outside all the way around and the rim inside and out

Usually, you leave a gap between the top of the dirt and the inside of the rim, so it is nice to have the rim be the same color as the rest of the painted pot

let dry completely and add a second coat if you are using craft paint. if you are using house paint, you may be able to get away with only one coat

Step 6: Remove the Vinyl

Remove the vinyl once the paint is dry

You may get a little seepage

You can fix it by simply scraping the pot with a craft knife

Step 7: Finish the Project

Cover the entire pot, inside and out with the exterior varnish. The varnish I use requires four coats to seal well, so be sure to read the instructions on your varnish container

Anyplace you miss with varnish will allow water to be sucked into the pot and will cause your paint to bubble.

Enjoy your pots with freshly planted flowers!
