Introduction: Flying Spaghetti Monster Tree Topper
This holiday season, show your guests that you have been touched by his noodly appendage with this tree centerpiece!
Can I get a RAMEN!?
Now as a lit ornament!
Step 1: Materials
Sheet of Yellow Foam (1 long sheet)
Foam Spheres (2)
Googly Eyes or slightly smaller foam spheres
Razor Blade for cutting
Straight Edge
Small pins for setting
Hot Glue
You'll also need a wire hangar and some heavy duty wire cutters to make eye stalks.
Step 2: Make Noodles
Cut your foam longways into thin strips. I eyeballed thickness and am super happy with the results.
Step 3: Meatballs
Paint some meatballs!
Some red mixed with a little black for that cooked meatball look.
You should hire on your 10 year old sister when applicable to start building your meatball army!
Step 4: Stiff Wire
Bend and cut some stiff wire, wire from an old hangar works well. Leave a vertical top to affix your eyes and some extra space at the bottom to press into your meatballs.
Then poke some holes in a noodle and wrap as shown.
Step 5: Attach Noodles to Meatballs
I started off using pins to get a sense of how things would come together... Once I found the positioning that I liked, I pulled the pins (one at a time) and placed a small dab of hot glue.
Step 6: Eye Stalks
Glue your eyes to the tops of the eye stalks. Then press the eye stalks into the meatballs. Add a small amount of hot glue at the base to keep them from falling out and/or spinning.
Step 7: Top Your Tree!
If your tree is mobile and/or in a windy location, be sure it's affixed with a firm grip.
You can also diversify and place your symbol of his noodlyness elsewhere.

I've been giving these out each year since reading your instructable & they're always popular! I've altered the material list slightly using yellow pipe cleaners for the wire, red puffballs instead of foam and sliced up lengths of Shamwow for the noodles. Thanks so much for something that's given so much pleasure over such a long period of time. Ramen Terry

Not a bad idea...
Might traumatize some neighbors (I live right near three different church denominations, as well as two Jehovah's witnesses and one scientologist neighbors...

D: You poor thing.

Eh, it used to be worse - our local Baptist sections are trying to buy the entirety of my street, but a few years ago all three churches were competing directly. The petitioners and solicitors were like locusts...

This cant be a serious religion can it?! IS IT?!?
Reply 13 years ago on Introduction
Sure is! lol

The pertinent question here is.... How serious is your religion with respect to disparaging intolerance... If the answer is very serious, then of course it's serious (and perhaps I'm offended you would ask such a preposterous question).
On the other hand, if your religion is okay with you being intolerant, than I ask the same question: "Your religion can't be serious? Can it?"

no disrespect intended comrade. Since your religion has the words "flying", "spaghetti", and "monster" i would assume this was all one preposterously over-scaled joke. Assuming that you are quite serious, then I question your sanity. My religion is very tolerant of other religions we respect all religions (including yours) but respect ends where cruelty begins. Also, My religion is very serious, we have several un-explained miracles (we dont proclaim anything a miracle until it goes through several scientific analysis processes that proclaim it "unexplainable"). I may be ignorant but I havent heard of any miracles about the flying spaghetti monster.

There's no need for personal attacks on sanity ;) While some have gauged my personality against a normalized personality prototype, you are in no position to question neither personality nor sanity ;)
This being said, there have been several miracles this season - especially with the recent deluge of snow in the north east. However this is neither here nor there as religion (any religion) is not defined by it's miracles (if any). Perhaps the Princeton WordNet dictionary can explain better:
"a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny"
Emphasis my own ;)

I see. Good luck with that.
