Introduction: FocCal 2.4XL - Lens Calibration

About: Photographer, inventor...

FocCal 2.4 XL

front focus/back focus lens calibration

This tool is helpful for lens controlling and micro-calibration (front focus/back focus) from the digital camera level (micro-calibration function in the camera is required).

You don’t have to set the camera at an 45° angle, so this tool is more practical than just a simple, flat paper with a printed scale. Just set the camera in front of the contrasting target plate (at the “zero” line level) and start the lens micro-calibration. You can use different lenses without changing the camera height on a tripod, which is convenient when you have several lenses (tele, wide, standard). The printout fits on an A4 sheet so you can print it on your home printer.

Supplies

Stuffs needed:

1. Printer + stiff paper
2. Scissors
3. Penknife

Step 1: Make It

1. Print a PDF file on an A4 printer.
2. Cut.
3. Folded.

Step 2: You Got It!

You don’t have to set the camera at an 45° angle, so this tool is more practical than just a simple, flat paper with a printed scale.

More (in polish language)...

Step 3:

File for earlier version of FocCal 2.2XL available for users.

Structurally, it is practically no different. Has different graphics, but works on the same principle.

I'm just showing you how to make it. But you're right, I've removed links to the original file that is available on eBay.
I published a PDF file available for everyone.
