Introduction: Foldable Watering Can
Even though a watering can is used only a few times a week, it takes a lot of space to store it the rest of the time. Especially in a tiny appartment or student room this can be quite irritating. This foldable watering can provides a solution for that problem since it can be folded flat and be stored in every cupboard without taking in any space.
It's possible to recycle a used truck tarp to make this watering can which makes it also a very eco friendly product!
Step 1: Print the Template
Print the template.
You can print the template on seperate A4 pages. Just glue the pages together afterwards.

Step 2: Cut Out the Template
Use a knife or scissors to cut out the template
Step 3: Truck Tarp Template
Take a used truck tarp and tape the paper template on it.
If you can't find a used truck tarp, look for a PVC canvas in the store.
Use a knife or sharp scissors to cut out the template.
Don't cut out the handles/holes yet. These will keep the material stiffer and easier to work with during the next steps
Step 4: Folding the Template
Follow the folding instructions on the image above.
Step 5: Keep the Workpiece Together
Keep your foldable watering can together using paperclips.
Step 6: Stitch the Watering Can Together
Stitch the watering can together.
Start with the front, and finish with the two stitches on the back
When the stitching is done, cut out the handles/holes as drawn on the template
Step 7: Waterproofing the Watering Can
Check your watering can for leaks.
Use a hair dryer to heat the material where needed. When it has softened, press on it and the material will melt together making sure the leak has been repaired.
Step 8: Your Foldable Watering Can Is Ready to Use!

What was your motivation for making a foldable watering can? I'm curious what situation led to the design :)

Thanks for the reply!
I'm a product design student. At school we were asked to design something that could be 'flat packed'.
Why i chose to design a watering can is described in the intro of this instructables ;)
