Foot Fungus Cure/Prevention

Intro: Foot Fungus Cure/Prevention

I use to get a foot fungus every summer. I used an antifungal cream and the fungus would go away for a few days, but seemed to always come back.
Then I bought an antifungal foot powder an dusted it on my feet. That worked fine as long as I used it, but when I would forget to use the powder the fungus would come back.
I thought, how about just putting it on my socks. So I dusted my sock drawer with foot powder and that solved the problem, no more foot fungus!
Now I keep the powder container open and in the drawer. Just by bumping it around and with an occasional shake there is enough applied to do the job.

The bad thing about simple solutions is that no one gets to make a profit or look smart!
Complicated solutions are better for those sort of things. That is what I need to be working on.
So please disregard this Instructable!

Soak nails in vinegar once a week for one hour.Fungus will be gone in a month. The trick is to soak long enough for the nail to be completely saturated with vinegar.

Interesting method! Thanks for the information. I’ll
give it a shot. Toenail fungus has been a real trouble for my life. I have
tried a lot of methods, either professional or non-professional, but few of
them have significant effect. These days, I’m thinking of taking laser therapy.
Got some information from here: http://lasernailtherapy.com
. But I’m still not sure if it really works. Any suggestion?

Nepheron is right !

@ $200 + for good work boots trashing or burning is not an option for me,
being a sweaty type guy my much needed solution is to treat the offending
foot gear by putting them in a large enuf plastic bag and setting them in a chest type deep freeze over night !

-- I'm claiming an 80% - 90% success rate !

-- peeing in the shower ugg! if that worked then there would be no fungus, left in the world.

-- When ever i forgot and left the headlights on ,on my car and was reminded
by a well meaning friend i would all ways reply '' i'm cleaning the battery terminals big al

I dont happen to run across many math professors on a daily basis, but I will keep the sandels in mind. :)
Another simple solution, is washing your feet with volcanic sulphur 10% soap. You will find it in the " grandma's victorian remedies section" at any drugstore...
Soak your feet in baking soda to cure the athlete's foot. Baking Soda KILLS fungus, that's why yo uput in in your fridge... make sense?? Plus it's a lot safer than bleach... It's also better to get an all natural baking soda like "RED MILL" brand from your local Whole Foods market or any organic supermarket. Hope that helps...
Im like Dandy. Come home from work and take a shower, dry off and turn on my pc, get dressed and soak my tootsies in a basin of very warm water with bleach while surfing the internet! Quite relaxing. I set a timer so I don't soak my feet too long. :D
well actually i believe the foot powder, creams and the like are designed with "keeping the consumer" in mind, i.e. they could kill the fungus, but the the consumer will no longer buy the stuff if they no longer needed it... if you want to kill the fungus completely (won't come back until you catch it again) then simply dilute 2 cups of BLEACH in enough water to cover you feet in a bathtub and soak for 5 to 10 minutes.....any longer then that and skin may dry. (exact measurements are not very important here :P) make sure its just bleach and contains NO alchohol or it might get into your blood stream. REMEMBER!!! the fungus will continue to live in the shoe for quite some some. Either trash the shoe, burn the shoe, or treat inside with chemicals to kill the fungus. If you wear those rubber/plastic shoes called "Crocs" than just throw the shoes in the bathtub of bleach water AFTER you wash your feet in it.
Another thing that helps is to just sit on the edge of the bathtub when you get home from work, and give your feet a wash. The extra wash and sock change does wonders.
I know it sounds gross but peeing on your foot in the shower is a proven cure to athlete's foot New Scientist
Most basic solution to athlete's foot prevention: Go barefoot. Athlete's foot needs a warm humid environment (the inside of shoes).
BRAVO! Exxcellent instructable! A simple and effective solution to a common plague. Washing daily and avoiding shoes works for me. Sandals are becoming more fashionable for men in the west. Have you noticed how many math professors wear sandals?
