Foundry #2

Introduction: Foundry #2

My foundry version 2

Step 1: Materials Used

Gas bottle ( WARNING: DO NOT MESS WITH GAS BOTTLES UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING )

first, make sure the bottle is empty. once empty take of the valve, fill the bottle with water and then leave the bottle for a while. i left it for a week. and once thats done cut the top off.

the chair i used was just for the base.

wheel hub was also for the base; i welded the base of the chair to the wheel hub and then welded the wheel hub to the bottle.

i used 1400°C Castable Refractory.

this foundry works great and i can move it around easy!

Step 2:

the bike exhust i used is used for air flow, which i placed near the bottom of the bottle.

Step 3:

the crucible was made from a gas bottle, i also welded a big nut on the base for pouring and 2 eye bolts for lifting

Step 4:

i designed this foundry to use diffrent size crucibles for the smaller crucible. i drilled 4 holes in the side of the bottle for 2 stainless steel rods to fit in and out of when i need

Step 5:

the lid was just a big hinge i found and some box section so it only goes back so far

Nice small foundry, I liked the use of the office chair and wheel rim, and the motor bike exhaust is set up just right for you to use a cheap hair dryer for extra airflow. You may need to make a trivet for your crucibles to sit on as I think those rods may eventually bend from the heat.
