Introduction: Freaky Ameba Pillows

Hello everyone! Here is how to make a Freaky Ameba Pillow. This project is fun for children and adults to do at home and in the classroom. It is almost impossible to mess this project up and the finished product is really cute and functional. They make great gifts and cool decorations.Let's get started!

Step 1:

Before you start, make sure you have a large, clean, working space. For this project you will need glue (fabric glue or a glue gun), a pencil, permanent marker, scissors, and about 2 yards of the fabric of your choice,

Step 2:

Turn your fabric over and fold it in half.

Step 3:

Use your imagination and draw your ameba shape or basically any shape you would like onto one side of your fabric. Make sure it fills the whole half of your fabric so that you end up with a nice sized pillow.

Step 4:

When you have completed drawing your shape and have decided that it's a winner, retrace your shape with permanent marker so that the shape is easy to see and cut out.

Step 5:

The size and shape of your ameba may look like this.

Step 6:

Before you begin cutting out your ameba, make sure you have picked up both halves of your fabric so you cut out both sides of the pillow at once. You don't want to have to cut out the shape twice.

Step 7:

Cut around the lines you drew rather than directly on them. This will keep the ameba to the size you originally wanted.

Step 8:

Your ameba should look something like this when you have completed cutting it out.

Step 9:

Before you begin glueing both sides of your ameba together, put newspapers or any other scrap paper underneath it so that no glue gets onto your work space.

Step 10:

Put your glue gun or fabric glue in between both sides of your ameba and glue all the way around. Leave a space that is about six inches so that there is an opening for the stuffing.

Step 11:

This is a good amount of space.

Step 12:

When you have completed glueing both sides together and the glue is dry, turn your ameba inside out.

Step 13:

Now you're ready to stuff your pillow! You can stuff it with cotton balls or any other soft material you prefer.

Step 14:

Stuff your ameba through the gap you left while glueing it together.

Step 15:

You can use a pencil to get the stuffing into all the hard to reach nooks and cranies.

Step 16:

When you're done stuffing your pillow, glue the gap closed so that none of the stuffing comes out.

Step 17:

Try to fold the glued pieces into each other to match the seem you made before.

Step 18:

After your pillow has been glued and stuffed, it should look something like this.

Step 19:

You can draw and cut out eyes and a mouth for your ameba. You can also use beads, buttons, things you may find around the house or anyhting else your imagination leads you to.

Step 20:

You can use it as your pillow ...

Step 21:

... give it as a gift ...

Step 22:

... or give it to your puppy :)
