Introduction: Frozen Strawberry Lemonade Slushies

About: I enjoy crafting, photography, gardening and cooking. I am an avid cooking contester and I have won several national contests.

This has been a very hot summer so far. For this Water Instructable, I decided I wanted to make a refreshing drink made with 4 cups of water and some of my favorite ingredients. Nothing tastes better than to sit back with an icy cold drink to cool you. And fresh lemonade traditionally can be such a special summertime treat! To make it even better, I decided to freeze the water to make frozen lemonade slushies. Then I thought to add some strawberries and how about some mint from my garden too? I had my idea of the perfect summer frozen drink! It was so very tasty and definitely hit the spot that I wanted to hit!! You can make it too by following these steps.

Step 1: Supplies You Will Need

measuring cup

rubber scraper or spatula

2 ice cube trays

plate

sharp knife

spoon

2 glasses

2 straws

blender that crushes ice

Step 2: Ingredients

4 cups water

1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries

fresh mint sprigs

4 lemons

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 drops yellow food coloring, optional

Step 3: Make the Ice

Pour the water into 2 ice cube trays. Freeze for about 4 hours or over night.

Step 4: Prepare the Strawberries

Cut the green tops off of the strawberries.

Step 5: Freeze the Strawberries

Cut strawberries in half for small strawberries, in quarters for large strawberries. Place in the freezer for at least one hour.

Step 6: Make the Strawberry Slushie

Add frozen strawberries, ice from 1 ice cube tray and 1 mint sprig to a blender.

Step 7: Time to Blend

Pulse until strawberries and ice are completely crushed and the mixture is blended. If the mixture is too dry, add 1/4 cup water and pulse a little more.

Step 8: Pour Into Glasses

Equally, divide the mixture between 2 glasses and rinse the blender.

Step 9: Now for the Lemons

Cut the lemons in half.

Step 10: Squeeze Them

Juice each lemon half into a medium bowl by squeezing it. You can use a spoon to scrape out more juice. Remove any seeds.

Step 11: Add to the Juice

Add sugar and food coloring to the lemon juice. Stir to blend.

Step 12: Make the Lemon Mixture

Pour lemon juice mixture and the ice from the remaining tray to the blender. Add a mint sprig.

Step 13: Blend It

Pulse until the ice is completely crushed and the mixture is blended.

Step 14: Add the Lemon Mixture

Add frozen lemonade mixture over the strawberry mixture in the glasses.

Add a straw. You may drink it as is or stir to blend.

Step 15: It's Ready!

Garnish each glass with a fresh strawberry and a mint sprig if desired.

I made these after I had been doing some work out in my yard and I found it to be perfectly cold, smooth and refreshing......just what I needed!

I hope you give this recipe a try! It is water at its tastiest!!!
