Introduction: GIRL PoWEr: Periodic Table Clothing Patches

About: My life is busy. My days are full. I go to bed at night tired. I am HAPPY!
This is such a simple Instructable, but even simple things can have significant meaning.

As the mother of three girls, I really love that this Po W Er is coming from Science.   The message I want my children to grow up with is that they are smart enough, talented enough, capable enough, and POWERFUL enough to do ANYTHING and be ANYTHING.

To spell PoWEr with the Periodic Table it is 84 Po Polonium,  74 W Tungsten, and 68 Er Eribium.

I hope your little girls feel the PoWEr.

Step 1: THE FUN PART:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Ink jet color printer
Heat transfer paper for DARK CLOTHING.
Iron
Scrap fabric with low fray factor
Needles
Embroidery thread
Scissors

Download the PDF attached to this Instructable.  There are two.  Each one has five pages with five different looks.  GirlPower1 is bigger than GirlPower2.  They are the same, just the size is different.

Print the design you like best onto the heat transfer paper, cut and iron to your scrap fabric per the instructions.  Make sure you use the one for dark clothing, because the PDF is not a mirror image.  If you print it onto heat transfer paper for white t-shirts, the letters will be backwards.

I left a little border and just hand stitched the patch onto a pair of jean shorts.

Step 2: OTHER IDEAS:

You can certainly just iron this pattern directly onto a t-shirt.

Print out the pattern on STICKER PAPER and decorate your school Science folder.

I would love to see what you come up with.
