Introduction: GLOW IN THE DARK - 3D FIGURES

About: I am a passionate industrial designer that loves to create all kind of things. I also studied some semesters of Robotics at the university. I love learning and teaching as well. If you have any questions about…

I love paper and Origami with all my heart since I was 5. And I have always liked the plastic glow in the dark figures for sticking to the ceiling or the wall. But I wanted to take my Origami figures to the next level and I also wanted more from the glow in the dark figures since they were always in the same position and were just 2D, so I thought I could create my own 3D Glow in the Dark figures with one of my biggest passions: ORIGAMI.

All you need for this instructable: Papers and glow in the dark paint.

Step 1: CREATE YOUR ORIGAMI FIGURE

You can follow the instructions I added here for creating one of the most common figures, the Ikosaeder, that is the one I will use to explain you this Instructable.

But you can also look for modular origami in books or internet. Modular origami means you will create a module or some modules and you will have to repeat the same ones and then join them together for creating other figures.

(You will see some examples in the next steps of this Instructable)

Step 2: PAINT IT!

With "Glow in the dark" paint, draw lines and points on the figure. If you can try to create patterns.
I found out the secret for it to look good is not to paint it all. The best thing you can do is add patterns with lines, points or small figures.

Step 3: TURN ON AND OFF THE LIGHT

¡Prende y apaga la luz!

Step 4: IDEAS FOR YOUR CREATIONS

These are some origami figures I made, and here you can see the patterns with lines and points I painted.

Estas son algunas figuras que he hecho, y aquí puedes ver los patrones que he hecho con líneas y puntos.

Step 5: IN CONTEXT

Now you can hang them from the ceiling or put them wherever you can see them at night.
It is also a great idea for your kids' bethroom, they will love having 3D stars that can rotate and glow in the dark and be part of the process of creating them.

Enjoy making your own figures!

¡Disfruta haciendo tus propias figuras!
