Table Saw and Router used to cut notches in 2x4s.

MDF used for shelves and doors.

2x4 used for shelf frame work.

Check out DIYGarageShelf.com, they have some great garage shelving kits that are easy to install and affordable than other shelving options

I think these look great, but the description leaves some to be desired. I'd really like to see more - it would change my basement. I just don't want to buy a bunch of lumber and learn by braille.

The pictures are good but I think you would have done better with a step by step instructable rather than just a photo one. That way you could add instructions.
