Introduction: Giant Button Project

This is my makey makey project, when you press on it, a noise is produced. This project creates a fun way for people to interact with each other. It also creates a collaboration between the button-presser and the computer.

Supplies

You will need:

  • A sheet of Card stock paper
  • A sheet of cardboard
  • A foamboard
  • A sheet of tinfoil
  • 2 wires
  • 2 Aligator Clips
  • A makey makey
  • Scratch(For Programming)

Step 1: Cut Squares Out of Your Sheets

Cut all of the sheets into squares, most of them should all relatively be the same size. Then cut another square inside the cardboard, making a cardboard outline of a square. Cut the card stock paper to fit inside the square hole you have made in the cardboard square.

Step 2: Poke 2 Wires on Opposite Sides of the Foamboard

Poke 2 wires through the foamboard so that the tip of the wires are visible on the other side. Then tape the tips of the wires to the foamboard so they do not slip.

Step 3: Layer a Sheet of Foil on Top of the Foamboard

On the side of the foamboard where the two tips of the wires poke out, lightly tape a sheet of foil over it so that the face of the foamboard is completely covered.

Step 4: Create Your Touch Pad

Tape the smaller piece of Card Stock paper to the cardboard rectangle so it fits in the middle.

Step 5: Put Everything Together

Place the touch pad you have just created on top of the foil and lightly tape them together.

Step 6: Connect the Wires to the Makey Makey Using Aligator Wires

Step 7: Connect the Makey Makey to Your Computer and Use Scratch to Produce a Noise
