Intro: Giant Heart Blanket (or Rug)

This super simple blanket is made from pure merino wool roving, and is HEAVENLY to sink your toes into.

Time Required: 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on your skill level

Skill level: Beginner to Intermediate

Materials: 2 kilo's (2.2 lbs) of wool roving (it doesn't have to be Merino wool, but Merino wool is super soft and not itchy) or 100 metres (about 109 yards).

Alternative Materials.... you can also knit this up with several strands of regular knitting yarn or t-shirt yarn.

(It makes a GREAT STASH BUSTER!)

STEP 2: Written Instructions

(See bottom for abbreviation key)

Heart Bump (you'll need to knit 2 of these)

Cast on 3 stitches

Row 1: sl1, k2

Row 2: sl1, m1, p1, m1, k1

Row 3: sl1, k 4Row 4: sl1, m1, p3, m1, k1

Row 5: sl1, k6

Row 6: sl1, p5, k1

Row 7: sl1, k6

One Heart Bump Finished, .... now repeat the whole process to make a second heart bump.

Heart Body

Place both heart bumps on your arm taking care that the working yarn (the loose yarn you're knitting with) is nearest your hand.

Row 1: sl1, p12, k1

Row 2: sl1, k2tog, k8, k2tog, k1

Row 3: sl1, p10, k1

Row 4: sl1, k2tog, k6, k2tog, k1

Row 5: sl1, p8, k1

Row 6: sl1, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k1

Row 7: sl1, p6, k1

Row 8: sl1, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k1

Row 9: sl1, p4, k1

Row 10: sl1, k2tog, k2tog, k1

Row 11: s1, p2, k1

Row 12: sl1, k2tog, k1

Row 13: k3tog

Cut the yarn after the last loop and pull the tail through the loop.Weave the tail back into your heart rug to hide it and VOILA!
