Glow in Dark Ring & Pendant

Hello makers.

Recently I bought Glow in dark Powder for some other project.

after that project completion, I have extra powder for use.

Then idea strike in mind to use that powder in making of Glow in dark jewelry.

so, i make this Ring and pendant set using that Material.

Now begin to make this Instructables.

Gather all Supplies and Let's start making.

Supplies

1> Plywood or Solid wood

2> Cutting tool

3> Surface finish Tools( die grinder set ,Sand Papers)

4> Wood Polish

5> Glow in dark powder

6> colour Acrylic Flakes

7> Feviquick adhesive / Fevicol Adhesive

8>Paper cutter

Step 1: Preparing Wooden Piece for Ring Shape

• Cut Appropriate size of wooden Piece from Wooden block .
• After separating the block , check Flatness of all sides.
• If it is not flat, use a file to flatten surfaces.

Step 2: Measurement for Internal Diameter of Ring.

• First take your finger measurement for the internal diameter of the Ring. Example : my finger diameter is 16mm .
• Draw a circle of 16 mm from the centre of the block. This indicates we need a 19 mm hole for perfect fit in our fingers.

Step 3: Mark Outer Diameter and Remove Material.

• Take same centre of internal circle and draw outer circle of diameter of 26 mm .(it affects ring thickness.Draw as per your need)
• Outer circle is out ring boundary, other material outside of outer circle will be removed by using wooden File or Rough Sanding or Cutting.

Step 4: Make an Internal Hole.

• Starting From smaller drill like 3 mm to drill the internal circle.
• Gradually increase drill size till 16 mm.
• If you don't have a 16 mm drill in your Set ,use a Die grinder to remove material .

Step 5: Making Groove on Top Surface

• I use Die grinder and a grinding tool for making a groove on the top surface.
• Grinding Tool diameter is 10mm and thickness of cutting surface is 5mm.
• For Finer Semi circular groove ,I use Metal Spherical Grooving tool to make an Exact semi spherical Groove .

Step 6: Make Outer Ring Grooves

• For the outer groove I use a cylindrical grinding tool.
• Use cylindrical tool orientation 45 degree to groove on outer Grooves.
• Make 10 to 12 grooves as per your tool & ring size.

Step 7: Acrylic Flakes + Glow in Dark Material

• For acrylick flakes I use a paper cutter to make small pieces from acrylic flakes.
• You can purchase glow in dark powder from Hardware stores or  online sites.
• I mix up Acrylic Flakes and Glow in dark material with Feviqick adhesive to fill in grooves.
• This mixture takes time to be Solid. place in sunlight for faster solidification.

Step 8: Final Finish

• For final Finish i use 400 grade sandpaper to sand out extra material and make proper shape of ring.
• Apply Wooden polish for better finish of wood .
• Wait for wooden Polish to dry.
• Your Ring is ready to wear.

Step 9: Make Pendent

• For pendant cut rectangle pieces with dimension 58mm x 34mm x 6mm.
• Smoothen edges using Sand Papers.
• Make inner depth to fill material of 3 mm and size of 45 x 28x3 mm using cutting tools.
• Use material made in step-7 to fill the inside pendant.
• It takes time to dry in sunlight.
• Make 2 drills side by side with a pendant for chain.
• For Final Finish Follow Step-8 .
• Use chain for wear pendant.

Step 10: Final Product Testing

After Final Finish we get a Ring and Pendant ready to wear.
