Intro: Glowing Critters

Make your critters come to life with leds!

STEP 1: Gather Materials

You will need:

  • leds
  • coincell batteries
  • tape
  • Easter eggs
  • craft materials
  • hot glue
  • scissors

STEP 2: Make Your Critter

Add craft materials to your Easter egg to make any sort of critter you want. Make sure the avoid glueing/taping the opening of the Egg shut, you will need this to insert the led and battery. Hot glue works well for adhering things to the egg.

STEP 3: Add Led

Add your led and coin cell battery to your critter. Tape your led to the coin cell battery- with the long leg (positive leg) of the battery onto the positive side of the battery and the other leg on the other side of the battery. Your led will be straddling the battery and should light up. If it is not lighting up it may be backwards. Put the glowing led into the egg and close it up. If you don't seal it, you can replace the batteries as needed.

STEP 4: Make a Colony

Make this as a group project and add them to an environment.

STEP 5: ...or...Make It Fly!

Add some string and a stick and make it fly!

Great idea. Perfect for Christmas tree decorations or Halloween decorations. If you dont have any coin cell batteries you could try one of the penny battery instructables :)
